Description

Peer Led Support Topic Meetings

Our topic this month is: "Rediscovering Our Identity After Loss"

At The W Connection, we know that many of us feel differently after the death of our partner –a loss of our identity. At our meetings, we will begin to explore the process of Re-Discovering Our Identity.

We start our meeting by reminding ourselves that changes in our identities can occur with any life transition, and we continually evolve throughout our lives. Our identities are a combination of...

-Sense of Self: Your perception of your characteristics, abilities, and motivations.

-Personal Values: Your beliefs about what is right and wrong, and your guiding principles.

-Social Identity: The roles and groups you belong to, and how they influence -your sense of self.

-Individual Identity: Your unique combination of traits, beliefs, and experiences.

We end the meeting understanding that "knowing who we are" is essential in creating a new life after loss because....

-Our story is not over.

-Our story is always evolving.

-We can still write the next chapter.

In preparation for these meetings, the Topic committee suggests listening to Dawn's Video.
