Fourth Thursday of Month (FTM) - Peer-Led Support Topic Meeting
Description
Our topic this month is: "Taking Steps Towards Understanding Our Loneliness"
Taking Steps Towards Understanding Our Loneliness," is Part I of a two-part series on overcoming loneliness. In September, we will acknowledge, explore, and decipher our feelings of loneliness. (Hint: sometimes we are really feeling other emotions that we assume are loneliness).
We will begin with the definition of Loneliness.
We return to Dr. Vivek Murthy's book, “Together – The Healing Power of Human Connection in a Sometimes Lonely World”, where he defines the feeling of loneliness as:
- lacking social connection
- lacking the feeling of closeness, trust and affection
- lacking community.
Together, we will begin to explore and decipher our feelings of loneliness with courage, compassion, and connection.
Join us this month as we explore this topic.
