Yoga, Meditation, and Breath with Aliza and MaryBeth
We are excited to welcome W Connection members Aliza Marlin and MaryBeth Madonia as they lead us in a yoga workshop, combining movement with breath. Aliza will lead us through a physical yoga practice that is accessible to all levels. Absolute beginners who find themselves curious will easily be guided into gentle poses while the more advanced yogi will have options for a more challenging process. Our time together will include seated and standing poses as well as twists and heart-openers to prepare ourselves to sit calmly in meditation. MaryBeth will lead us through a Loving Kindness Meditation based on the work of Jack Kornfield in "A Path With Heart".
Aliza Marlin
Aliza Marlin began practicing yoga as a way to find physical strength but found peace of mind along the way. "Everyone should feel this way" was the thought that propelled her to become a 200-hour certified instructor. After the death of her partner, she threw herself back into the vigor of the practice, avoiding all the "feelings". It's only through the eyes of the women of the "W" that she's rediscovered a balance in her life.
MaryBeth Madonia
It was during the serious illness and loss of a younger sibling in 2010 that MaryBeth realized the healing benefits of a holistic yoga practice. She credits this with steering her through the loss of her husband eight years later. MaryBeth is a 200-hr Hatha Certified yoga instructor with additional training in yoga for children and teens and therapeutic yoga. She taught in Northeast Ohio for ten years before returning to the mat as a student. She believes yoga is for everyone, regardless of age or body type.
